Dominic Lobalu

Dominic Lokinyomo Lobalu is a world-class athlete. He has represented Switzerland at international level since September 2023 and holds European records in the 5km and 10km road races. Dominic was born on 16 August 1998 in Chukudum, Southern Sudan. At the age of nine, he lost both his parents and fled to Kenya. There he became a runner without a country - tolerated but not welcome. As part of the "Athlete Refugee Team", he arrived in Eastern Switzerland in 2019 and found a new home. Markus Hagmann becomes his coach and not only recognises the refugee's athletic potential, but also helps him to cope with everyday life. Under Hagmann's wing, Dominic Lobalu became a winning and record-breaking runner - who still hopes to compete in the Olympics.
